DAVID SKORIC
For Ward C Township Councillor
A True Neighbour. A Proven Community Builder.
The election is here. Voting is open October 14 – 26 via internet and telephone. Don't let an email blast decide your local government. Vote for a year-round neighbour who puts our community first.
Living the Duality of Muskoka
My story with Muskoka is one I know many of you share. My family’s roots on Lake Muskoka go back 46 years, instilling in me a love for this place that goes beyond reason. Six years ago, that connection led me to make Muskoka my permanent, year-round home.
I’ve lived the cottage summers, and I’ve lived the Muskoka winters.
I understand the seasonal owner’s fierce desire to protect our water quality, and I understand the year-round resident’s urgent need for a sustainable life—affordable housing, stable taxes, and a 12-month economy. We don't have to choose between protecting our lakes and supporting our workforce. We must do both.
My Priorities for Ward C
Protecting Our Lakes: Everyone claims to be "environment-first," but we need practical enforcement. The pristine nature of our lakes is the engine of our economy. I will protect our water quality and stop residential sprawl masquerading as resorts.
Building a 12-Month Economy: A community cannot survive if it shuts down on Labour Day. We urgently need attainable, inland housing in our fully serviced Urban Centres so our local trades, healthcare workers, and hospitality staff can actually afford to live here.
Real Transparency & Tax Stability: With rising inflation, we need strict, competitive bidding on all Township infrastructure projects to stabilize taxes. You deserve a council that spends your money as carefully as you do.
A Doer, Not Just a Talker
For the last 4 years, I have served as the Chair of the Board for the Bala Cranberry Festival. I don't just debate economic development—I work actively with volunteers, the township, and the chamber to build our shoulder-season economy and bring seasonal visitors and local workers together.
I want to bring that exact same community-building energy to council.
Elect a True Neighbour. In this election, you have candidates whose primary lives are in the city. You have incumbents who attend meetings by Zoom or require a hotel stay just to be here because their proprty is “water access only”. Some won't even publish their local address in this election process.
If you want to know where I live, it’s right here in Ward C. Just look for the hilariously oversized sign in my yard.
How You Can Help: Tell 10 People
Well over half our voters are seasonal and currently out of town. Because candidates can't knock on their doors in October, a disproportionate amount of power goes to a large association with a massive email list, effectively telling absentee voters who to choose.
If you want a doer, a true neighbour, and real transparency on council, I need your help to bypass that system.
Go call, text, or email 10 people today. Tell them to vote for a balanced, year-round voice. Or at the very least, tell them not to vote blindly for whoever popped up in an association blast email.
Voting is open NOW through October 26. Check your mailbox for your Voter Information Letter and PIN.
